Kes Gray, Illustrated by Jim Field - All books by this author

This book has got legs—the question is, just how many are there? In this zany, laugh-out-loud counting book, little readers are challenged to figure out how many legs there would be in a room if lots of many-legged friends showed up. How many legs would there be if a dog walked in with a chimpanzee? Or a frog hopped in on a kangaroo? Or a squid rode in on a buffalo? Hilarious illustrations and fun text ratchet up the giggles as each new friend joins the party. Can you keep track of all the wacky, multiple-legged “guests” that turn up on the page? Maybe or maybe not, but you’ll sure have a hoot along the way. How Many Legs? is a book that you can count on—guaranteed—from the masterful writer’s mind behind Leave Me Alone. (Ages 3–6)

From the Reviews:
How Many Legs? is a zany, funny, wildly fantastic counting mystery that masquerades as an animal parade, where legs are the operative currency to be counted. Hopelessly funny images of a succession of eccentric animals and accouterments involve the reader's math and counting skills in a hilarious cavalcade of creatures. What en effortless and fun way for children to learn mental counting! How Many Legs? is entertaining education crossing poetry, math, art, and memory all simultaneously, with effortless delight.”
The Midwest Book Review

“Bright primary colors, cartoon animals, rhyming words, party food, balloons, and animal antics keep readers entertained as they add more legs in this extended mental math problem. This story is great for introducing or reinforcing the concept of addition for the youngest of math students.”
Catholic Library World

“Kes Gray and Jim Field have written and illustrated a nice counting book. Many animals with various number of legs are introduced in this story. The illustrations are humorous and you and your young child will enjoy them.”
