The Night Before Christmas and The Nutcracker
Illustrated by Susanna Lockheart - All books by this author

If You Love A… - All books in this series

Artist Susanna Lockheart’s large, beautiful color illustrations celebrate the Christmas season, and their details change as if by magic each time young readers lift and turn a page. The holiday enchantment behind each Christmas picture is the result of an ingenious paper engineering technique that is part of this unusual book’s construction. These festive “moving” illustrations dramatize and highlight two favorite Christmas tales, which are recounted in detail for the holiday enjoyment of every child who opens this book

The Night Before Christmas
Clement Clark Moore’s famous Christmas poem is reproduced in full with magnificent illustrations of snow-covered rooftops, a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer, and. . .
“With a little old driver, so lively and quick
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.”
The Nutcracker
Recounted here is the immortal Christmas fantasy that inspired Tchaikovsky’s popular ballet. Young Clara receives a handsome Christmas gift from her grandfather—a beautifully carved Nutcracker doll dressed in a handsome soldier’s uniform. When Clara goes to sleep, she dreams that her Nutcracker doll comes to life, fights off the Mouse King, and then carries Clara off on a sleigh made of spun sugar to the Kingdom of Sweets.

Here is an imaginatively produced book that makes a wonderful holiday gift—a volume that boys and girls will return to and cherish for many Christmases to come. (Ages 4 and older)
