Global History, Volume Two complements Barron’s currently available Volume One edition, which meets curriculum requirements for grade nine. Volume Two consists of 20 chapters, which are categorized according to four general eras, and extend from the year 1826 to the present day. (Previous eras of global history are covered in Volume One.) The contents of Volume Two can be summarized as follows:
  • Era V. An Age of Revolution, Continued (1826–1914): The Industrial Revolution; Political Change and Global Nationalism in Africa, Latin America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia; Imperialism
  • Era VI. A Half Century of Crisis and Achievement (1900–1945): World War I; The Rise of Totalitarianism in Russia, Italy, and Germany; World War II; The United Nations and Postwar Western Europe; The Holocaust
  • Era VII. The 20th Century (1945-2000): The Cold War and its aftermath; the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe; Modern Western Europe; the End of Imperialism; Newly Emerging Nations in Asia and Africa; Political, Economic, and Social Changes in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Era VIII. The 21st Century: Political Developments; Global Economic Issues; Global Environmental and Social Issues; The Impact of Science and Technology; Global Cultural Patterns
