A Junior Novelization
Leslie Goldman - All books by this author

Here is a novelized version of the new hit comedy film released by Fox Studios in December ’06. It’s an expanded version of Milan Trenc’s picture storybook for children, The Night at the Museum, which was first published by Barron’s several seasons ago. On his very first night at work, the night guard at New York’s Museum of Natural History begins to see the museum’s exhibits come to life. He tells his son about the many strange things he sees each night. At first reluctant to believe his father’s fanciful tales, the son begins to see Dad in a new light when he, too, spends a night at the museum. He discovers that his father’s amazing world is real. The film’s unusual and entertaining story, starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Mickey Rooney, and Dick Van Dyke, is faithfully recreated in this funny and fanciful novelization for young readers. (Ages 8–12)

Barron's “Night at the Museum, A Junior Novelization”, will debut on the prestigious New York Times Bestseller list on January 14, 2007.

The book enters the chart at number five on the Children's Paperback list of the New York Times Sunday Book Review.

The movie, “Night at the Museum”, has been number one at the box office in the United States since its opening on December 22, 2006.

Barron's “Night at the Museum, A Junior Novelization”, has already received national media attention in such publications as “Publishers Weekly” and locally in “The New York Post”. It will also be featured in the L.I. Kids section of “Newsday” on Sunday, January 14th.

This literary achievement tops off an incredible year for Barron’s Educational Series who recently celebrated its 65th Anniversary of book publishing in 2006.

From the Reviews:
“Museums might get a boost in attendance this holiday season due to the December 20 release of Night at the Museum from 20th Century Fox. Based on a 1993 Barron's picture book by Milan Trenc, the movie stars Ben Stiller and Robin Williams ... As a tie-in, Barron's has released a junior novelization.”
PW Daily: PublishersWeekly.com, Friday, December 1, 2006

“Both the film and its novel present important events from history while inspiring readers and moviegoers with valuable life lessons.”
Museum Store, Winter 2006

“A Hint of History Infused with Lessons. A madcap adventure youngsters are sure to enjoy. Barron’s ‘Night at the Museum’ tells the fun and fanciful tale of an endearing underachiever who is desperate for money….Historical events and life lessons meld into one tantalizing tale.”
Museums & More, Winter 2007

“Barron’s, the Hauppauge [New York] publisher whose popular juvenile picture book The Night at the Museum has now been made into a Twentieth Century Fox motion picture starring Ben Stiller and Robin Williams, has now published a second juvenile title relating to the film... Night at the Museum, the Junior Novelization, is written for kids ages 8-12 by Leslie Goldman. Both this new novelization and the original 1993 book, written and illustrated by Milan Trenc and geared for very young readers, tell the fun and fanciful story of an endearing underachiever, Larry Daley, played by Ben Stiller.”
The Smithtown News, December 21-28, 2006
